Key Takeaway

Spot Hogg has long been known for producing some of the toughest, most durable, and reliable bow sights available. The new Boonie from Spot Hogg is no exception. What sets it apart from its predecessor, the Fast Eddie, is that it’s about 10% lighter, offering a more compact and lightweight option while still maintaining all the essential features and adding a few new tricks.

Let’s break down the specs and features to see what makes this sight a top contender.

Let's Look at the Specs

Features of the Spot Hogg Boonie

  1. Compact and Lightweight: Weighing approximately 10% less than the Fast Eddie, the Boonie is perfect for those who want high performance without the extra bulk.
  2. Modular Mounting: The Boonie offers interchangeable bar mounts, making it a versatile sight that adapts to your setup.
  3. Versatile Head Attachments: You can easily switch between different mounting styles—whether it’s a pic mount, hard mount, or dovetail mount. Customization has never been easier!
  4. Micro-Adjustable Knob: The removable micro-adjustment knob offers precision control for perfect sight adjustments. You can even swap it out for a different knob with a separate sight tape, which is ideal if you’re changing between hunting or target shooting setups.
  5. Slotted Lockdown Screw Holes: The Boonie allows micro-adjustments with the slotted screw holes, providing a secure lockdown and eliminating the need for constant retightening.
  6. Second and Third Axis Adjustments: With a broader range of horizontal micro-adjustments and positive clicks, you can count on greater precision in your shooting.
  7. Quick Disconnect: For archers on the go, the quick disconnect feature makes it easy to remove the sight’s head or bracket for travel or storage.
  8. Compatibility with All Spot Hogg Heads: The Boonie supports all Spot Hogg heads (as of 2024), whether you prefer a single pin, double pin, or even a 5-pin setup.

Our Favorite Features

One of the most exciting aspects of the Spot Hogg Boonie is its ability to change mounting options. Whether you’re using the Mathews Bridgelock system or Hoyt’s picatinny mounting system, the Boonie’s interchangeable mounts mean you don’t need a new sight each time you switch bows. It’s a perfect solution for those who upgrade their bows frequently.

Another standout feature is the dial wheel for sight tapes. For those running different arrow setups—like hunting versus 3D archery—you can easily swap the dial wheel and sight tapes to match your specific arrow configuration. Many archers in our shop are using this feature to switch between different arrow setups without having to recalibrate from scratch.

Lastly, while it’s about 10% lighter than the Fast Eddie XL, it still offers the same durability. Plus, like all Spot Hogg sights, the Boonie is incredibly user-friendly when it comes to sighting in.

How to Sight in the Spot Hogg Boonie

Sighting in your Spot Hogg Boonie sight is simple.

  1. Start by finding your 20-yard zero using your top pin.
  2. Apply the calibration tape to your dial using your 20 yard indicator pin to line up on the 20 yard line on the calibration sight tape.
  3. Next begin the walk-back process out to 60 yards, still using the top pin. Take your time and work back slowly.
  4. Once you’ve reached 60 yards and are shooting good consistent tight groups you then look at the number your indicator lands on. That will determine the sight tape you’ll use.

It’s an easy and straightforward process that takes the guesswork out of sighting in. We just encourage you to take your time with this process. It’s important that your 60 yard groups are consistent and tight in order to have the most accurate sight tape!
