Shrewd TRAK Hunting Stabilizers Review: Target-Level Technology for Your Hunting Bow

Shrewd's TRAK is their new flagship hunting stabilizer for 2026 — a trickle-down of their target archery technology into a hunting package. Indexable carbon spine, floating mass dampener, tunable weight stack. Here's the full breakdown.

What Is the Shrewd TRAK?

The TRAK is Shrewd's new flagship hunting stabilizer. It comes in four lengths — 8 inch, 10 inch, 12 inch, and 15 inch — and the measurement is a true measurement. A 12-inch bar is actually 12 inches, measured from the mounting point to the rubber cap on the end. No games with how it's measured.

It ships in a hard case with the stabilizer, an assembled weight stack, a hex wrench for indexing, and a backup index locking bolt stored inside the mounting bolt itself. That bolt is small and easy to lose — having a spare built into the bar from day one is exactly the kind of detail you want in a hunting setup.

Lengths: 8", 10", 12", 15"

Measurement: True length — mounting point to rubber cap

Technology: BEAM indexable carbon rod, floating mass dampener

Included Weight Stack: 0.5 oz + 1 oz stainless steel weights

Colors: Bottomlands, Blackout, Terra, Dust, Flint, Timber

The Technology: BEAM Carbon and Indexable Spine

Here's where the TRAK separates itself from basically everything else in the hunting stabilizer market.

The bar is built on Shrewd's BEAM carbon technology — an indexable carbon rod with a spine. Look at the bar and you'll see a groove on either side. That groove marks the weaker side of the spine. The opposite side — no groove — is the stiffer side. The orientation you run changes how the bow feels:

Stiffer side up — the bow stabilizes faster, settles quicker, tighter pin float. Better hold overall.

Weaker side up — more vibration absorption, softer shot feel, quieter. Better for guys who want a dead, quiet feel at the shot.

The bar has 13 orientation positions (numbered 0 through 13). You index it using the set screw and hex wrench included in the box. To go from stiffest to weakest orientation, add 3.5 positions. Shrewd includes a backup set screw in the mounting bolt so you're covered if the original goes missing.

We shot it on the stiff side and the weak side back to back — there is a real, noticeable difference. The dynamic side makes the shot legitimately softer and absorbs vibration better. The stiff side makes the bow hold and settle faster. It's not subtle. You feel it.

The Floating Mass Dampener

Layered on top of the indexable spine is Shrewd's mass dampener system. The weight stack uses a floating weight design — isolated from the rod itself by isolator pads. That means the weight moves slightly independently of the rod, which kills vibration and noise at the shot.

The included weight stack gives you a 0.5-ounce black-coated stainless steel weight, a 1-ounce black-coated stainless steel weight, a rubber dampener on the end, and a floating mass dampener ring around the rod. Everything threads onto a 2.5-inch threaded rod with plenty of room to add more weight if you want to run heavier.

The mass dampener ring comes in different colors too — a small thing, but it's a nice option if you want to color-match your setup.

Is It Too Much Technology for a Hunting Stabilizer?

Honest answer: it depends on who you are.

If you're a tinkerer — if you like dialing things in and actually understanding what your gear is doing — this bar is going to be really satisfying. The indexable spine gives you a level of tuning control that no other hunting stabilizer offers. You can fine-tune the feel of your bow without swapping bars.

If you just want to put a good stabilizer on your bow and go hunt — this still works. It's a well-built carbon bar with a quality dampener system and a solid weight stack. Bolt it on at zero orientation, forget the indexing, and it's going to do a great job. You just won't be using half of what you paid for.

Either way, it's a great bar. The technology is real and it makes a difference when you use it. The question is just how deep you want to go with it.

Sizes and What to Run

Four lengths — 8", 10", 12", 15". For most hunting setups, the 10" or 12" is the move. The 8" is compact and light, good for tight spots like ground blinds. The 15" is more of a hybrid setup for guys running a side bar who want serious stability.

All four lengths come in every color option. Quick disconnect mounts are available separately if you want easy on/off between setups. We've got all lengths and colors in stock at Extreme Outfitters.
