B3 Archery Flo X Review - The Most Adjustable Thumb Button Release We've Tested

Most thumb button releases come in small, medium, and large. You pick the one that's closest to your hand size and you live with it. The B3 Archery Flo X does it differently — one size, and every single adjustment is built into the release itself. Sounds gimmicky. It's not.

One Size Fits All — And It Actually Works

Here's the thing — when I first heard it was one size only, I was skeptical. But B3 built so much adjustability into this release that it genuinely doesn't matter. You can dial the finger spacing to fit your exact hand size, run it as a three or four finger depending on what feels right, and adjust the pitch and angle of the whole unit. There's even a finger divider that you can shift left or right — or swap out completely for a flat plate if you don't want it at all.

That's a lot of customization, man. Way more than most releases give you.

Thumb Barrel Adjustment — More Than Just Up and Down

The thumb barrel on the Flo X isn't just adjustable for height. You can change the pitch, the angle, and how far the barrel sits from the release body itself. So whether you've got a longer thumb or you just have a very specific feel you're after, you can get it dialed in exactly how you want it.

Travel and tension are both adjustable too — travel screw is easy to access right on the body, and tension is simple to dial up or down depending on how hot or cold you like your release. Once you find your settings, it stays there.

Cerakote Finish — Sharp Looking and Built to Last

The Flo X comes in a couple of colors — tungsten and green — and both are Cerakoted. The texture on the finish feels really good in the hand, and Cerakote is going to hold up. It's not going to chip, scratch, or wear down on you over time. These releases look sharp and they're built to stay that way.

For a premium release at this price point, you'd expect a quality finish. B3 delivers on that.

D-Loop Retention — Non-Negotiable for Bow Hunters

This one matters a lot to me personally. If a thumb button release doesn't hang securely on my D-loop, I'm not interested. Full stop. The last thing you want in a tree stand is fumbling around trying to find your release in the dark.

The Flo X hooks right onto the D-loop and stays there. No clips, no second-guessing. It's retained, it's secure, and it's not going anywhere until you want it to. For a hunting release, that's a non-negotiable — and B3 got it right.

A Couple of Honest Notes

I'm going to keep it real with you guys. The Flo X is a little stiff when you go to reset it. All stainless steel internals, and it's new, so that's part of it — it'll break in over time. But right now, it is noticeably stiffer than some other releases. Not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of.

It's also a little louder than what I'm used to. The break is clean — really clean — but there's a little more noise on the shot than I expected. Again, not a deal breaker. Just being straight with you.

How It Shoots

Once you get past the break-in period, this thing is really, really good. The internals are crisp, the break is clean, and it is incredibly repeatable. I've been a fan of B3's other releases — their Ghost, their hinge styles — and the ergonomics on the Flo X are right in line with what they do well. It fits the hand really naturally, it's on the lighter side which I like for hunting, and it just feels dialed.

Repeatability is everything in archery. You've got to do the same thing the same way every single time. The Flo X gives you the adjustability to get it set up exactly for your hand, and then the internals to back it up shot after shot.

Should You Buy the B3 Archery Flo X?

If you're in the market for a premium thumb button and you've been frustrated with off-the-shelf sizing or limited adjustability — this is your release. The one-size-fits-all approach only works because B3 put the adjustment where it counts, and they nailed it.

It's expensive. No question. But you get a lot for what you pay — Cerakote finish, stainless internals, full adjustability, D-loop retention, and a clean break that only gets better as it breaks in.

If you're local, come by the shop and put it in your hand. That's the best way to know. If not, grab one at extremeoutfitters.com and test it out yourself. This is one of those releases you just have to shoot to appreciate.
