The Easton Axis 4mm Match Grade Fletched Arrow combines Easton’s micro-diameter Long Range hunting platform with a ready-to-use AAE Hybrid 26 fletching setup. Built with 100% Acu-Carbon construction and a Match Grade ±.001" straightness specification, the Axis 4mm is designed for bowhunters who want a smaller shaft profile, reduced wind exposure, and a versatile front-end component system.

This version comes pre-fletched with AAE Hybrid 26 vanes in a three-fletch right-helical configuration, so you can take advantage of the Axis 4mm platform without starting from a bare shaft and installing your own vanes.

Key Features

4MM Micro-Diameter Acu-Carbon Construction

The Axis 4mm uses a true micro-diameter 100% carbon shaft. The smaller outside diameter reduces the amount of shaft exposed to crosswind and reduces shaft friction during penetration, making the platform especially useful for longer-range hunting and shooting in windy conditions.

Match Grade ±.001" Straightness

The Match Grade version carries a ±.001" straightness specification for bowhunters and archers who want Easton’s tighter straightness grade for hunting, 3D, and longer-range shooting.

Pre-Fletched with AAE Hybrid 26 Vanes

This Extreme Outfitters configuration comes pre-fletched with AAE Hybrid 26 vanes in a three-fletch right-helical setup. It gives you a finished fletching configuration while still allowing you to customize arrow length, spine, half-out weight, broadhead weight, and the rest of the front-end system.

Designed for Long-Range Hunting Performance

Easton designed the Axis 4mm Long Range around a specialized carbon construction that keeps shaft weight manageable while maintaining the durability expected from a hunting arrow. Combined with the smaller 4mm diameter, the platform is particularly well suited for hunters who may be shooting farther or dealing with changing wind conditions.

55-Grain Match Grade Aluminum Half-Out Included

The current Axis 4mm Match Grade includes Easton’s 55-grain Match Grade aluminum half-out. The component extends over the front of the shaft for additional support and provides a standard 8-32 threaded connection for conventional broadheads and field points.

Standard 8-32 Broadhead Compatibility

The included half-out allows you to use standard-thread 8-32 broadheads and field points. That gives you the advantages of a 4mm micro-diameter shaft without requiring a specialty broadhead system.

4MM Microlite Nocks

Easton installs 4mm Microlite nocks at the factory, providing a lightweight nock system designed specifically for the micro-diameter shaft.

Multiple Front-End Component Options

The included 55-grain Match Grade half-out is only one way to build the front of the Axis 4mm. Extreme Outfitters also carries several Easton 4mm component options for shooters who want to change finished-arrow weight or front-end mass.

Increasing half-out or broadhead weight increases total finished arrow weight and dynamically weakens the shaft. Spine, arrow length, draw weight, and the complete component package should all be considered before making a major change in front-end weight.

Who It's Built For

The Easton Axis 4mm Match Grade Fletched Arrow is a strong option for bowhunters who want a micro-diameter hunting shaft but do not need a completely custom fletching setup.

It makes particular sense for western hunters, 3D shooters, and anyone who may shoot at extended distance or in wind. The 4mm diameter exposes less shaft surface area to crosswind than a larger-diameter arrow, and that advantage becomes increasingly relevant as shooting distance increases.

The platform is not limited to long-range western hunting. It can also make an excellent whitetail or general big-game arrow for shooters who like a smaller-diameter shaft and want the flexibility of standard 8-32 broadheads combined with multiple half-out weight options.

The biggest consideration with a 4mm setup is the component system. Half-out weight, broadhead weight, finished arrow weight, FOC, and spine all need to work together. We recommend building around the complete shooting setup rather than choosing a component solely because it is heavier or produces more FOC.

Our Take on the Easton Axis 4mm Match Grade Fletched Arrow

The biggest reason we look at the Axis 4mm is not simply because a smaller diameter sounds better. The real advantage is reducing how much shaft is exposed to the wind, which becomes more important as shooting distance increases.

That makes this platform especially attractive for western hunting, 3D shooting, or any application where longer shots and variable wind are part of the equation. You still have enough shaft weight to build a legitimate hunting arrow, while the micro-diameter profile helps make the arrow more efficient downrange.

The component system is where we pay the most attention when building these arrows. The included 55-grain Match Grade half-out is a good general starting point, but the ability to move into different component weights gives us room to tailor the finished arrow around the shooter.

For some setups, the included component is exactly where we want to be. For others, moving to a 75- or 100-grain half-out may help us reach a specific finished-arrow weight or FOC target. That does not mean the heavier component is automatically better. Every increase in front-end weight also adds total arrow weight and dynamically weakens the shaft.

The advantage of this fletched version is convenience. The AAE Hybrid 26 vanes are already installed in a right-helical configuration, so you can focus on spine, finished arrow length, half-out selection, and broadhead weight rather than starting the fletching process from scratch.

Compared with the Axis 5mm, we generally look at the 4mm when wind management and long-range efficiency are higher priorities. We look at the 5mm when we want a slightly simpler, more traditional hunting-arrow component system and do not necessarily need the smallest possible shaft diameter.

Extreme Outfitters sells these arrows individually, and free cut and glue is available with your arrow purchase. If you are unsure about spine, half-out weight, finished arrow length, or broadhead weight, our bow techs can help you put together the complete build around your setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What vanes come on the Easton Axis 4mm Match Grade Fletched Arrow?

This Extreme Outfitters configuration comes pre-fletched with AAE Hybrid 26 vanes in a three-fletch right-helical configuration.

What is the difference between the Easton Axis 4mm and Axis 5mm?

The biggest difference is shaft diameter. The Axis 4mm has a smaller outside diameter, reducing the amount of shaft exposed to crosswind and making it especially useful at longer distance. The 5mm Axis uses a larger shaft with a HIT-style internal insert system, while the 4mm Axis Match Grade uses a half-out system to provide standard 8-32 broadhead compatibility.

What half-out comes with the Easton Axis 4mm Match Grade?

The current Easton Axis 4mm Match Grade includes a 55-grain Match Grade aluminum half-out.

Can I use heavier half-outs with the Axis 4mm?

Yes. Extreme Outfitters carries the Easton 4mm Match Grade 75-Grain Half-Out and Easton 4mm Match Grade 100-Grain Half-Out for shooters who want additional front-end weight.

Remember that increasing component weight also increases finished arrow weight and dynamically weakens the shaft. The correct component should be selected around the complete arrow and bow setup.

Is there a lighter half-out option available?

Yes. Extreme Outfitters also carries the Easton 4mm 8-32 Aluminum Half-Out for shooters who want a different front-end component configuration.

Does the Axis 4mm use standard broadheads?

Yes. The included half-out uses standard 8-32 threads, allowing you to use conventional 8-32 broadheads and field points.

What is the straightness specification?

The Easton Axis 4mm Match Grade carries a ±.001" straightness specification.

What spine sizes does Extreme Outfitters carry?

Extreme Outfitters currently offers the Axis 4mm Match Grade Fletched Arrow in 250, 300, 340, and 400 spine.

Is the Axis 4mm only for long-range hunting?

No. The micro-diameter design becomes increasingly useful as distance and wind increase, but the Axis 4mm can also work extremely well for whitetail and other general big-game hunting applications.

Is a 4mm arrow better than a 5mm arrow?

Not automatically. A 4mm shaft exposes less surface area to wind and can provide advantages at longer range, while a 5mm shaft may offer a simpler component system for some hunting builds. The better choice depends on shooting distance, finished-arrow goals, component preferences, and intended use.

Should I use the included 55-grain half-out or a heavier one?

The included 55-grain Match Grade half-out is a good starting point for many builds. Moving to a heavier 75- or 100-grain component can increase finished weight and FOC, but it also dynamically weakens the shaft. We recommend choosing component weight around the complete build rather than automatically choosing the heaviest option.

Can Extreme Outfitters cut these arrows to length?

Yes. Free cut and glue is available with your arrow purchase. If you need help choosing spine, arrow length, half-out weight, or broadhead weight, our bow techs can help you determine the appropriate setup.

Should I buy the fletched Axis 4mm or the bare shaft?

Choose the fletched version if you want the convenience of AAE Hybrid 26 vanes already installed in a three-fletch right-helical configuration. Choose the bare shaft if you want complete control over vane model, color, orientation, and the rest of your fletching setup.

Prefer to Build Your Own Fletching Setup?

If you want complete control over vane selection, vane color, fletching orientation, and the rest of your arrow build, the Easton Axis 4mm Match Grade Bare Shaft gives you the same Match Grade micro-diameter Axis platform without the pre-installed vanes.

Choose this fletched version if you want the convenience of the AAE Hybrid 26 setup already installed. Choose the bare shaft if you want to customize the fletching from the ground up.
